Alyssa Allgood is a passionate educator who inspires her students to find their own voice and expression, and to develop as people through the study of the jazz art form. She believes performing jazz requires both musical and emotional intellect. Students must understand and articulate musical concepts, while also being willing to take risks and create in the moment. Alyssa encourages her students to hone their musical skills and share their authentic self through music.
Alyssa currently teaches at Elmhurst University, the Chicago Academy for the Arts, and Merit School of Music. Through these programs she designs and implements curriculum for private lessons, group voice classes and a vocal jazz ensemble. Alyssa has also directed vocal jazz ensembles at Neuqua Valley High School and Oak Park River Forest High School. She has served as a clinician at the Iowa Vocal Jazz Championships, Illinois Wesleyan University Jazz Festival, Niles North Vocal Jazz Festival and several Illinois District Vocal Jazz Festivals.
Alyssa is available for clinics, lessons and workshops and looks forward to working with you!
